Pinedale’s Elyn Bowers Passes 2,000 Career Points

Pinedale senior sensation Elyn Bowers has joined an elite club in Wyoming High School girls’ basketball lore. On Saturday at Lander, Bowers became the fifth player in state history to pass 2,000 career points. She needed 16 points to reach the milestone. Bowers scored 25 in a 65-52 victory over the Tigers. She accomplished the feat on a 3-pointer from the top of the key. Elyn scored 87 points across three games last week.

Bowers is a four-year starter and letter-winner for the Wranglers. She’s been a three-time all-state selection and is on her way to a fourth. So far in the 2024-25 season, Bowers has led Pinedale to the Class 3A No. 1 ranking in our WyoPreps Coaches and Media Girls Basketball Poll and a 16-1 record. She averages 26.6 points per game, shooting 51 percent from the floor and 76 percent at the free-throw line. Bowers also leads Class 3A and is second in the state at 4.9 assists per game.

Elyn came onto the scene as a freshman in the 2021-22 season. She averaged 14.8 points per game and shot 46 percent from the field and 78 percent at the charity stripe. As a sophomore in the 2022-23 season, Bowers scored 20.5 points per game. She shot 44 percent on field goals and 83 percent for free throws. As a junior last year, Elyn averaged 24 points per game to lead the state in scoring. She shot 49 percent from the field and 78 percent at the stripe. Bowers led Pinedale to a 22-4 record and third-place finish at the 3A basketball state tournament. She has helped the Wranglers to the 3A state tournament in all three of her previous seasons.

Bowers joins Lauren Olsen of Douglas (2,384 and counting), Lander’s Tahnee Robinson (2303), Lyman’s McKinley Bradshaw – now Dickerson (2098), and Riverton’s Kristen Newlin (2007) as the only girls’ players in state history with over 2,000 points in their prep career. Elyn has a chance to finish among the top three. She signed to play college basketball at Eastern Washington last November.
