
Upton’s Rhett Watt Reached 1000 Career Points in the 2025 Season
Upton senior Rhett Watt surpassed 1,000 points at the end of the 2024-25 season during the 1A East Regional basketball tournament. Watt accomplished the feat in a game versus H.E.M. on Feb. 27, 2025. The Bobcats defeated the Miners, 63-26. Watt helped Upton to runner-up finishes at the 1A East Regional Tournament and the 1A Basketball State Championships.
Watt was a two-time all-state and all-conference selection for the Bobcats. A four-year letter-winner and three-year starter, he was a member of two state championship teams and two state runner-up squads at UHS. As a senior, Watt averaged 17.3 points and shot 53 percent from the field. He led the Bobcats to a 25-2 overall record and a 1A Northeast Conference championship. Watt grabbed 6.3 rebounds, dished out 2.6 assists, and had 1.7 steals per game. He shot 34 percent beyond the arc.
As a junior during the 2023-24 season, Rhett averaged 11 points and shot 50 percent from the floor. That included 39 percent from 3-point range. He also dished out 2.6 assists per game and helped Upton win the 1A boys’ basketball state championship. The Bobcats went 27-1 that season.
Watt averaged 9.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game as a sophomore in the 2022-23 season. Upton went 21-5 and took second at the 1A state tournament. He appeared in 26 of the 27 games for the Bobcats in the 2021-22 season and averaged 2.5 points per game for the 1A state champs, who finished at 26-1.

Rhett concluded his prep basketball career with a record of 99-9. Watt has also competed in football for the U-S Patriots and track and field for UHS.
Congratulations to Rhett on the milestone. He finished his high school career with 1,071 points.
