The defending champions are not going quietly at the ‘AA’ State Tournament, as Casper rallied to beat Jackson, 14-9, Friday in Rock Springs.

Down 7-1 in the third inning, Casper closed the gap with four runs. The Giants extended to a 9-5 advantage after four innings.

Then the Oilers exploded for eight runs in the fifth inning. Casper sent 12 batters to the plate. Daniel Roberts had a two-run single. Gunnar Browning added another two-run single that gave the Oilers the lead, at 10-9, one they wouldn’t relinquish. That was followed by a two-run double from Samson Wagner and an RBI-single from Cooper Hack. That made it 13-9. Casper added an insurance run in the sixth.

Will Clair came on in the fourth and kept the Giants off the scoreboard. He allowed no runs on six hits over 3.2 innings pitched. He walked one and struck out six.

Hack led the Casper offense with two hits and four RBI’s. Conner Rogers added three hits and an RBI. Three more Oilers had two hits apiece. Ryan Keith hit a solo home run in the second.
