Cheyenne Sixers Players React to 2026 Legion Baseball Title

The Cheyenne Sixers won the Wyoming American Legion Baseball Division 1 State Tournament championship on Tuesday in Gillette. The Sixers topped the Sheridan Jets, 8-1, in the title game. This was the Sixers' sixth championship in the last seven seasons at the top level of Wyoming Legion Baseball.

WYOPREPS VISITS WITH CHEYENNE PLAYERS AFTER WINNING THE 2026 TITLE

WyoPreps visited with State Tournament MVP Braden Pearson, championship game winning pitcher Zach Hall, and first baseman Kayden Tafoya after the title game victory.

Pearson earned the MVP honor for the second time in the last three seasons. He won it back in 2024. Braden threw a no-hitter in the winner's bracket semifinal against the Sheridan Troopers. In the 7-0 victory, Pearson struck out 14 batters and allowed only two baserunners on a walk and an error. At the plate, Braden had a .400 batting average in the tournament. That included two triples and one double. He drove in three runs, scored four times, and drew four walks.

Hall got the win over the Jets on Tuesday afternoon. He gave up one run and scattered five hits in the complete-game victory. Hall walked three and struck out four on 88 total pitches.

Tafoya had two hits, including a triple, in the title game. He scored two runs and recorded the final out of the game before the dog pile celebration on the mound.

The Sixers will play more baseball next week

The Cheyenne Sixers advance to the Northwest Region 7 Tournament in Medford, Oregon. The tournament is August 5 through August 9. Cheyenne opens versus Hawaii in game two of the doubleheader that starts at 9:30 a.m., Pacific Time.
