Cheyenne Central tennis player Emily Needham who has enjoyed a stellar prep career has signed on with the University of Mary to continue her athletic career. Needham won the #1 girls state championship in 2020 with a 6-7, 6-0, and 6-4 win over Finley Klinger of Kelly Walsh. That match decided the team state championship giving Central their 4th consecutive state title. Needham finished the season undefeated and lost just one set in the state tourney in Gillette.

In 2019, Needham also won the #1 girls singles state championship thanks to a 6-2, 6-3 win over none other than Finley Klinger of Kelly Walsh. She also won the #2 singles state title as a sophomore, with a straight-set win over Teagan Thompson of Cody.

Needham showed an incredible amount of resiliency on the court in her career at Central which will help her immensely at the next level. The University of Mary is a Division II school in Bismarck, North Dakota.
