It was the annual Capitol Bowl on Friday as 4-2 Cheyenne East took on 4-2 Cheyenne Central. In the opening quarter of play, Cheyenne East drew first blood with a 15 yard run for a touchdown from Christian Anderton to give the Thunderbirds a 7-0 advantage.

Central responded with a touchdown of their own in the 2nd quarter as Dawson McCleary threw to Brock Storebo on a play that covered 46 yards to the end zone to even the contest at 7

To the 3rd quarter, this time it was Brady Storebo for Central catching a 6 yard TD pass, putting the Indians in front 14-7. East answered as quarterback Graeden Buell hooked up with Jackson Hesford for 2 yards and a score so we’re even again at 14

East took the lead in the 4th quarter as Buell found Chance Aumiller for 26 yards and a touchdown so it was 21-14 T-Birds. East also tacked on a field goal to increase the lead to 24-14. But Central wasn’t done as Brady Storebo caught his 2nd touchdown pass of the game to cut the gap to 24-21. That’s the wat it stayed as East nipped Central 24-21. The quarterbacks had some nice yardage throwing the ball, Buell threw for 275 and McCleary threw for 280. East is now 5-2 on the year and will host Rock Springs on Friday. Central drops to 4-3 and they will be at home this week to meet Natrona.
