Cheyenne East won it all in 4A boys basketball last season, winning a state title for the first time since 2006. The T-Birds have picked up where they left off a year ago with a 10-1 record following the Cheyenne Tournament over the weekend.

East won all 4 of their games in that tourney including a win over Douglas who was ranked #1 in 3A. The Thunderbirds also beat Rock Springs, Evanston, and Kelly Walsh so they did their job in this grueling 3-day event.

Drew Jackson has been enjoying a phenomenal season so far East as he is averaging 21.7 points a game which leads 4A. This isn't surprising at all considering he is a two-time All-State selection and is a preferred walk-on for the Wyoming Cowboy football program. East also has a couple of other guys who average in double figures as Nathan Mirich and Cam Hayes average 11 points each.

This is a formidable group but they'll be challenged by some pretty teams in the 4A East which should make for a very interesting season. We talked with Drew Jackson and Nathan Mirich after their in over Evanston on Friday. It was a long day of basketball.
