With the postseason for Class ‘A’ Wyoming Legion Baseball teams just a week away, the Cody Cubs are looking like potential favorites.

After a bit of a slow start, Cody has been red hot over the last few weeks. They went undefeated in conference action with a 12-0 record.

The Cubs started 2020 with a 4-9 mark after they were swept in a doubleheader by Sheridan at home on June 14. Just over a week later, Cody was 9-12. Since then, the Cubs have won 21 of their last 23 games played and sit with a 30-14 overall record. That included a 13-game winning streak that was stopped on Tuesday, July 14 by an international showcase team.

They have a handful of games left in the regular season before they host the Class ‘A’ West District Tournament in Cody, July 24-26.

Cole Havens from KODI and The Big Horn Radio Network in Cody was kind enough to catch up with Cubs’ players Jared Grenz and Tristan Blatt, along with manager Bart Grenz at last weekend’s Cody Lions Club tourney in the video above. They talked about the season up to this point, if they felt the coronavirus pandemic had an impact on their season, what they’ve been focusing on lately, plus getting ready for the postseason.

The Wyoming Department of American Legion Baseball Class ‘A’ State Tournament will be Aug. 1-5, 2020, in Powell.

WyoPreps would like to thank Cole Havens for his time and effort in helping us put together this baseball update.
