The road to a state championship in basketball can be a bumpy road with heartbreaking losses. The Cody girls were making their 3rd straight appearance in the 4A title game and coming off 2 defeats to Cheyenne East in those season finales. In the ultimate game of atonement, the Fillies finally got that state title with a 65-53 win over Thunder Basin on Saturday in Casper. Not only did Cody win the whole thing, but they also completed the season undefeated. This is a program that endured some down years but now, the Fillies have lost just 7 games over the course of 3 seasons.

Molly Hays was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in Wyoming and showed everybody at the Ford Center in Casper why she won that award. She poured in 23 points and Thunder Basin really didn't have an answer for her. We talked with Hays and her teammates Reece Niemann and Victory Buck about winning the first state title in girls' basketball in school history. A moment they will never forget.
