Douglas certainly had enough skill to qualify for the 3A State Tournament and punched their ticket with a solid win over Thermopolis in the opening round of the East Regional Tournament. At the state tournament, The Bearcats found life a little bit more difficult as they lost to Lander in the opening round 68-42. Cam Spence was the only player in double-figures for Douglas with 10 while Alex Adelman had 8.

The Cats stayed alive in the consolation round with a 67-45 win over Wheatland as Nate Halquist went off for 19 points, Spence and Kyle Igo had 12 apiece and Jackson Hughes contributed 10. Douglas hit a remarkable 10, 3 pointers out of 19 attempts.

The Bearcats faced Lyman in the 5th/6th place game and won that one 50-43 to finish the year at 17-7. Halquist again had 19 points and Igo threw in 16. Douglas went 14-17 from the free-throw line in this contest.

This team had one all-state player in Cam Spence who averaged 11 points a game, Halquist was an all-conference pick throwing in 14 a game, and Igo was all-conference as well with 10 points per game.  All three of those guys return for next season and Halquist was just a freshman this past season. This will be a team to keep an eye on in 2021-22. Take a peek at our video of the Bearcats from the state tournament. Enjoy!
