Douglas Girls Basketball Postgame Remarks

The Douglas girls' basketball program doesn't rebuild, they just reload. The Bearcats have won 5 consecutive state championships in 3A basketball which is the longest streak since Gillette won 5 in a row in 4A from 1994-98.

Douglas has a gifted player in sophomore Lauren Olsen who had 28 points in their title game win over Buffalo. Brooke Wright and Jaden Meter were also in double figures but the team as a whole had to really earn this victory, It was rugged out there and Douglas lost to Buffalo in the 3A East regional final.

The Bearcats have enjoyed remarkable success with great coaching and continuity in the program. They're going to be tough to beat next season too as the squad loses just 3 seniors. We talked to Olsen, Meyer, and Wright following that win on Saturday in Casper and it wasn't as easy as it looked.
