The Lady Broncs scored early in the 2nd half, then held on the rest of the way, to remain undefeated.

It never hurts to check the long jump sand pit…there’s buried treasure to be found, just about anywhere these days!

Number 3 East at Number 1 Sheridan…first half…East wearing the black and doubling up their defense…Rickie Ryan with a great shot, but the Lady Thunderbirds kept 2 players in front of the net…Makenzie Drake is not the goalie, but she’ll end up making the save on this play by using her head…there’s a reason why she’s a defender.

Sheridan would try again later from the corner…Shayne Carter will bat the ball away…but it went to the wrong person…Gabby Edeen plays for the home team and she was in the right place at the right time to knock in the rebound off of the goal-post…she’s in that celebration, somewhere. The Lady Broncs would strike first and they lead 1-to-nothing.

The visitors needed only about 3 minutes to strike back…Rachel Erickson is going to take charge…and the goalie reacted a split second too late and could not handle the shot…the sophomore is currently 3rd in the state class 4A in goals scored and she can add 1 more to her total…this game is tied up at 1 goal a-piece, going into halftime.

2nd half…the home team did not waste much time after the break…Hartley Stewart’s free kick hits an East player and it goes right in front of Noelle Golinvaux who only has to knock it forward. There’s the 2nd leading scorer in the state class 4A…and her team would reclaim the lead…in this matchup of unbeaten teams…the score is now 2-to-1.

On the other end…the Lady Thunderbirds were trying for an equalizer…not sure who took the shot, but oh boy was that close. The cross-bar tends to be a goalies best friend and Bailey McLean knows she dodged a bullet on that one.

Later…East with a corner kick...Victoria Arenas puts the ball in the right spot, but Sarah Erickson would apply a little too much oomph on the header…good strategy though, but they had to scrap that plan.

Let’s try from the other side with a more conventional approach…Rachel Erickson…looking for goal number 2, but McLean will close the door on that try…the visitors were giving it their best shot, but the Lady Broncs were finding ways to hang on and keep the ball out of the net.

Back to Plan A…East will put a few more bodies in front of the goal in an effort to get the ball in…they’ll try the ground approach, however McLean saw that coming and will smother it. The Lady Broncs would get a little measure of revenge, after being denied an invite to last year’s state tournament…they win this game 2-to-1 to stay undefeated.
