East Beats West, 9-2, in Wyoming Legion Baseball ‘A’ All-Star Game
The East defeated the West 9-2 in the Wyoming American Legion Baseball Class ‘A’ All-Star Game on Saturday in Gillette.
Cameryn Spence of Douglas had two hits, including a double, and four RBIs for the East team. He received the game’s MVP award.
A three-run fourth inning and a five-run ninth inning sealed the victory for the East team.
Spence’s two-run double to center field in the fourth pushed the East lead to 4-1. The West scored one in the fifth, which pulled them within 4-2, but that’s as close as they got. A five-run ninth inning capped the scoring in the East victory. Spence added a two-run single in that frame.
WyoPreps caught up with the MVP, Cameryn Spence, after the game.
Fifty-one players participated in Saturday’s second annual all-star game. Only Cody and the Casper Drillers were not represented because those two teams are playing at the Northwest Class ‘A’ Regional Tournament (NWCART) in Vernal, UT.
Some of the all-stars participated in the home run derby on Friday night. Jacob Russell from Douglas was the winner. The West beat the East in the team portion of the home run derby in a swing-off.
