Fall Rodeo Season Concludes in Big Piney
The fall high school rodeo season concluded over the weekend in Big Piney with some sharp performances once again from the cowboys and cowgirls. For the ladies in the barrel racing, Yoder's Haiden Thompson won Saturday's session with a time of 16.56.0and the Sunday winner was Jordan Morman of Gillette in 16.56.8. Thompson who is the defending national champion in the goat tying won Saturday's perf in that event in 6.75 and also placed first on Sunday with a clocking of 6.43. Thompson by the way placed 4th in the breakaway roping in the first go and the in that event in the 2nd go. The Saturday winner of the breakaway was Kasey Carr of Jackson on 2.26 and backed that up with a win on Sunday in 2.51. In the pole bending, Rayne Grant of Wheatland won both sessions with a 20.509 on Saturday and 19.864 on Sunday
On the boy's side in the bareback, Roedy Farrell of Thermopolis had a 71 on Saturday to place first and Tuker Carricato of Saratoga had the best effort on Sunday with a 71. Hayden Welsh of Gillette posted a 73 in the first session in the bull riding and a 77 on Sunday so that was quite an effort. Jase Longwell of Thermopolis placed first in the saddle bronc on Saturday with a 57 with Colby Smith of Burns took Sunday's session with a 49.
In the timed events, Karson Ewing of Douglas had a 6.44 in the steer wrestling on Saturday for 1st place and Chance Sorenson from Arvada took 1st in that event with a time of 5.32. Over in the tie-down roping, Kolton Miller from Gillette had the best time on Saturday with a clocking of 10.350 while Bohdi Coombs of Wellington took top honors in this event with a 10.66, Finally, in the team roping, Dillon Johnson of Belt with Jade Espenscheid of Big Piney had the #1 time in 6.79 on Saturday and Sunday's winners were Tavy Leno of Sheridan and Joe Hayden of Gillette in 9.01.
