Boys’ Winners

Anderson and Baker helped the Riverton Raiders qualify for the Class A American Legion Baseball State Championship tournament in Sheridan. It will be Riverton’s first state tournament appearance since 2020. In the West District Best-of-3 series at Evanston, Riverton swept the Outlaws, 14-6 and 12-1. In game one, the Raiders scored 10 runs in the first inning and held off Evanston. In game two, Riverton needed just five innings for the critical second win of the series and clinched a spot at the state tournament.

Anderson went 6-9 at the plate in the two games. He had three hits, drove in four runs, and scored twice in the opener. Anderson also pitched one inning and allowed only one hit with two strikeouts. In the nightcap, Beau added three more hits, which included a triple and a 3-run home run. He had four RBIs, scored three runs, and stole one base.

Baker was 4-9 with two home runs, six RBIs, and had a dominant pitching performance for the Raiders. In game one, Baker hit a 3-run home run in the first inning that set the tone for Riverton. He added another RBI hit. In game two, Brayden was the winning pitcher. He tossed all five innings and allowed the one run on just two hits. Baker walked two and struck out 13 Evanston batters on 90 total pitches. He went 2-4 at the plate with another home run, two RBIs, and one run scored.

WyoPreps caught up with Anderson and Baker before the Raiders left for the state tournament. They discussed how well they played on the road, how they set the tone in the first inning of game one, how well they hit, and more.

Congratulations to Hadley, Beau, and Brayden on being selected as the WyoPreps Athletes of the Week!
