Wyoming High School Rodeo Shines With Impressive Performances Last Weekend

Hadley Thompson, Carter Hutchison, Owen Monfeldt, and Keon Norris were some of the stars at the first weekend of Wyoming High School rodeo’s spring portion of the 2025-26 season. There were two performances in Rock Springs last Saturday and Sunday. Thompson won a performance in three events, took second-place in poles in both Go’s, and added third place in goat tying. Hutchison was second on Saturday and won Sunday’s steer wrestling. He added a third in team roping on Saturday and a third in tie-down calf roping on Sunday.

Owen Monfeldt swept both days of bull riding, and Keon Norris took first in bareback in both performances. Dylan Thar finished first in breakaway roping and team roping on Saturday and was runner-up in breakaway roping on Sunday. Kolbe Chant won last Saturday’s tie-down roping and placed second on Sunday.

Rock Springs was the first of six stops leading up to the state finals in Buffalo at the Johnson County Fairgrounds, June 1 through June 6, 2026. Last September, contestants competed in four rodeos in Laramie, Riverton, Wheatland, and Rawlins to start the season.

Rodeo contestants will compete at Big Piney’s High School Rodeo this weekend.
