The Class 1A boys’ basketball runner-up from last year, the Farson-Eden Pronghorns are contending again in 2021.

Farson-Eden fell just short to Saratoga in the Class 1A boys’ title game last March. They followed that with a football state championship in Class 1A-6 Man last fall. Now, they are in the mix for boys’ basketball this season.

The Pronghorns are off to a 9-2 start this season and are 2-1 in the 1A Southwest Quadrant. Senior Parker Clawson is leading Farson-Eden with an average of 16 points, six rebounds, and 3.1 steals per game. Fellow senior Carson Jones adds five points and three boards per contest.

WyoPreps caught up with those two players after a tough loss, 51-45, at top-ranked Encampment on Jan. 23, 2021. The two spoke about the loss, how their season is going, areas they need to work on in the next month, and some things away from the court in the video at the top of this story.

Here are some of the highlights from the game that pitted second-ranked Pronghorns at No. 1 Encampment. Farson-Eden trailed by 10 at halftime but battled back to take the lead in the third quarter. The Tigers did just enough in the final frame to get past the Pronghorns.

WyoPreps also talked with head coach Rick Mitchelson after the loss to Encampment. He touched on the competitiveness in the 1A Southwest Quadrant, some things to learn from the loss to the Tigers, and more.

Farson-Eden is set to travel to Saratoga on Thursday, Feb. 25, for the Regional Quad. They will have to win one game to qualify for this year’s state tournament.
