Campbell County scored five runs in the first inning on their way to a 12-3 victory over Cody at the state softball tournament in Gillette on Thursday.

Natalie Clonch hit an RBI triple, followed by Avery Gray’s two-run triple and Jadeyn Snyder’s two-run home run.

It was 7-0 in the fourth inning when Cody rallied. They scored three runs on Emily Egger’s two-run double and a steal of home by Egger a few batters later. The Fillies took advantage of three Campbell County errors and a catcher’s interference in the frame.

The Camels put the game away with five runs over the final three innings.

Clonch led the offense with three hits and three RBI’s. Gray and Addy Rambo added three hits apiece. Gray also was the winning pitcher. She allowed three unearned runs on five hits with 14 strikeouts.

WyoPreps spoke with Snyder after the Campbell County victory.

Egger’s two hits and two RBI’s paced the Cody offense.

Campbell County takes on Thunder Basin at 10 a.m. on Friday in a winner’s bracket game.

Cody will face Rock Springs in an elimination game at noon on Friday in Gillette.
