WyoPreps 2A Football State Championship Game Recap 2025

In what was an instant classic, the Mountain View Buffalos held off the Big Horn Rams to win the 2025 Class 2A football state championship in Laramie on November 14. The final score was 41-38. The Buffalos led 14-7 at halftime, but the fireworks came in the second half. The two teams combined for 58 points in the last 24 minutes of game time. That included 35 points in the fourth quarter. Mountain View led 27-17 as the game entered the fourth quarter. The Buffalos answered two Big Horn TDs and recovered an onside kick after the Rams pulled within three points. It led to Mountain View’s first football title in six years.

Mountain View QB Justus Platts put on a show. He ran for 323 yards and 3 TDs, which included a 97-yard run in the third quarter. Platts added 162 yards passing and 3 more touchdowns on 13-19 passing. Ashton Colangelo had five catches for 88 yards and two scores. Kolby Roitz added one TD grab. The Buffalos finished with 516 yards of total offense. Levi Jones led the Mountain View defense with 14 tackles, including one tackle for loss, and an interception. The Buffalos had three interceptions in the game.

Big Horn got four TDs from Cruz Hernandez. He ran for 108 yards and 2 scores and added 5 receptions for 152 yards and 2 more touchdowns. QB Tucker Wulff was 24-37 for 302 yards, two TDs, and three interceptions. Bridger Doke threw a 78-yard TD pass on a flea-flicker and added nine catches for 138 yards. Big Horn had 492 yards on offense. Finn Stalick paced the Rams’ defense with 14 tackles, which included 1.5 tackles for loss.
