Hulett’s Jay, Lander’s Hollingshead Take Top WyoPreps Weekly Awards [VIDEO]
Volleyball and football standouts were named the winners of the WyoPreps Athlete of the Week honors. The most recent selections were Hulett sophomore Jolee Jay and Lander senior Paxon Hollingshead. Jay ran the offense for the Red Devils and helped them win the 1A East Regional volleyball championship last weekend in Buffalo. Hollingshead quarterbacked the Tigers to a playoff win for the first time in 21 years and accounted for five touchdowns. WyoPreps looked back at performances from the competition week of October 27 through November 1, 2025, and selected these two student-athletes. Previous weeks are not part of the decision.

Girls’ Winner
Hulett sophomore setter Jolee Jay averaged 11 assists per set as the Red Devils won three matches to become 1A East Regional Volleyball champs. That was Hulett’s first regional title since 2012. Jay had 29 assists in a three-set sweep of Guernsey-Sunrise. In the semis, Hulett beat third-ranked Southeast in a three-set sweep. Jay had 38 assists in that match. To top it off, Jolee surpassed 1,000 assists in her young career during the regional tournament. Congratulations!
WyoPreps visited with Jay about Hulett’s great weekend. She discussed how it felt to win the title, what the key was for the Red Devils, how she runs the offense, where they’ve improved this season, her milestone as a setter, and more.

Boys’ Winner
Lander senior QB Paxon Hollingshead helped the fourth-ranked Tigers to a 55-35 victory over No. 5 Jackson in the first round of the 3A football playoffs. That was Lander’s first playoff victory since 2004. Hollingshead was 15-22 passing for 309 yards and four TDs. He added five rushes for 53 yards, which included a 44-yard TD run. Paxon also broke a 31-year-old school record for the most touchdown passes in a season with 20. Lander advanced to the semifinals versus No. 1 Star Valley this Friday.
WyoPreps spoke with Hollingshead about the big playoff victory. He described the feeling after the Tigers snapped the playoff drought and his play. Paxon also credited his offensive line for making things easier for him. He also feels good about the offensive adjustments after they lost their starting running back.
