Despite not having their starting QB, last year's 4A State Runner-ups made any concerns a myth. Backup Senior QB Seth Moerkerke had 200+ all-purpose yards and threw for 2 touchdowns, and Camels racked up almost 400 yard rushing, in a thrashing of the Trojans.

Now this guy was ready for war...but his buddies...well...they were ready too, but let's just say they were over-matched.

Number 2 Gillette at number 5 Kelly Walsh to start the season...first quarter...Kelly Walsh wearing the yellow...Marcus Nolan's pass was tipped, but it still ended up in the hands of Dan Gochenour...and the senior will go 52 yards to the promised land...2-point try no good...that drive took all of 3 plays, and the Trojans are on the board first, leading 6-to-nothing.

On the next possession...the quick pass worked once, but this time the opposition was ready for it...Nolan will get picked off by Caden Erickson...who will bring it back to the KW 22 yard line...and Gillette was in business.

On the next play...and a 5 yard penalty...this Seth Moerkerke...the backup QB...he'll hit Jordan Fischer on the run for what turned into a 27-yard touchdown for the Camels...and that took care of any quarterback concerns that the visitors may have had...they now lead 7-to-6.

Later...last year's 4A state runner-ups could grind it out as well...Billy Williams finds a hole...goes through it...eludes a couple of tacklers and scores from 15 yards out...that was a sign of things to come...Gillette was up 13-to-6 after the first 12 minutes.

Second quarter...here comes more...Tichun Aipperspach follows his blockers who pretty much had their way with the opposing defensive line...2 yards and a score...visitors now up 20-to-6.

For being a backup quarterback...I think Moerkerke might get some more playing time...200+ all purpose yards...and 2 TD tosses...this...a 23 yard strike to Cody Kelley...things were looking promising, as the Camels would take a 26-to-6 advantage going into half-time.

Third quarter...the visitors needed only 3 plays to strike again...Isaac Hamilton...found lots of room to run and I think he went untouched on this play...36 yards to the house...Gillette amassed nearly 400 yards on the ground...they are now ahead 33-to-6.

Moving ahead...guess what's going to happen again? Williams with his second score of the game...this 6-yard scamper makes it 39-to-6.

...and they were not done...Dalton Suchor puts his head down and burrows his way in from 4 yards out...the message has already been sent as the Camels were up 45-to-6 going into the final 12 minutes.

4th quarter...the Trojans kept trying and they finally got something to work...Austin Sullins goes up and over to get one yard and 6 points for his team...that helped a little, but they're still down 45-to-12.

However, the opposition was taking no prisoners...this is Xavier Hamilton...the 3rd string QB...good fake and then he takes it in himself for a 4 yard score. Gillette would give Kelly Walsh the business to start the season...52-to-12.
