Green River Girls Looking to Make the Next Big Step
The Green River girls basketball team started out the season in the Casper tournament winning 2 out of 3 with wins over Kelly Walsh and Cheyenne South with a loss to Laramie. The program had to replace a couple of very good players from last year's team that went 16-7 and made the 4A State Tournament. They do have an all-state player in 6-0 Megan Counts and also have more than a few productive players like Daryn Macy, Ella Stanton, and Gabriella Hiser, among others.
This team has a big inside presence with counts and also has a few outside threats so the Wolves have more than enough talent to be a substantial force in the 4A West. There's a long way to go but it appears Green River is moving the needle in a positive direction.
We had a chance to talk with Megan Counts and Daryn Macy after their win over Kelly Walsh in that Casper tourney. Enjoy!
