Improvement a Priority for Little Snake River Girls
The first thing that you notice watching the girls basketball team at Little Snake River is that Jodi Stanley isn't on the bench anymore. She retired as the Rattler head coach and started that job way back in 1986 and earned three state championships along the way.
Enter new coach Mark Gillies who is trying to lead the team back to the 1A State Tournament. Little Snake River went 7-9 in a pandemic shortened season and missed the state tournament for the first time since 2009. Skylynn Ready is a returning all-conference player and she'll get plenty of help. The team has an outside shooting presence in sophomore Regina Herrera and an inside presence with sophomore Kinlie Montgomery. So they'll get something from just about everybody and 1A girls basketball is going to be rugged this season.
The Rattlers have won 5 of 6 to start the season with wins over Meeteetse, Riverside, and Shoshoni in the Wrangler Invite over the weekend. We had a chance to chat with Montgomery and Ready after that victory over Shoshoni and it's been so far so good.
