Both Lander and Green River want to turn their football fortunes around in 2024 so Friday's match-up was a good gauge-of-ability match. Lander went 0-9 last year and missed the 3A playoffs after 5 straight appearances. Green River was 1-8 and hasn't made the playoffs since 2017.

In the opening quarter of this game, the teams traded touchdowns with Green Rivers Dax Taylor recovering a fumble and returning it 40 yards for a touchdown. Caleb Larvie of Lander got into the end zone from 3 yards out so it was 7 all after one.

Lander jumped in front in the 2nd quarter and quarterback Paxson Hollingshad found Finn McFadden for 79 yards and a touchdown. The extra point attempt was blocked so the Tigers led 13-7 at the break.

Lander scored again in  3rd quarter as Parker Burton hit paydirt from the doorstep and the 2-point try was good to make it 21-7. The Wolves got back into the game on a 1-yard run for a score from Max Hintz to cut the gap to 21-14.

Lander hung on from there to win it 21-14 and will travel to Powell this week. Green River after a week zero loss to Mountain View sits at 0-2 and will host Rawlins on Friday.
