PhotoFest: Lingle-Fort Laramie Headed to 1A 9-Man Title Game
Lingle Fort-Laramie moved to within one win of their first State Championship in football since 1990 with a convincing 52-6 win over Big Piney in the 1A 9-Man semi-finals on Saturday. The Doggers will be making their first appearance in a championship game since 2009 and have won all 10 of their games this season.
LFL started the scoring in the first quarter as Louden Bremer snuck into the end zone from a yard out to put the Doggers in front 6-0. Big Piney came back with a nifty play as running back Caden Clifford threw a 48-yard touchdown pass to Geraldo Galvan to even the contest at 6. Bremer came right back with a 27-yard TD run and the successful 2-point try gave Lingle-Fort Laramie a 14-6 advantage.
LFL took over in the 2nd quarter as Bremer reeled off an 11-yard run for a score and Kaiden Riggs found the end zone on a 10-yard scamper so the Doggers led 30-6 at halftime.
In the 3rd quarter, Riggs scored again, this time from 3 yards out and Bremer had an interception return that nearly covered the length of the field. Colt Brown added a 4-yard touchdown run in the 4th quarter and the LFL defense was terrific in less-than-ideal weather conditions.
Lingle-Fort Laramie will play their Southeast rival Pine Bluffs for the 9-Man championship on Saturday at 1 pm in Laramie. LFL beat PB during the regular season 30-27. Big Piney was the defending 9-Man state champion and the Punchers finished the year 5-4.
