Lots of Teams Receive Votes in First WyoPreps Volleyball Rankings of 2022
With the new season underway, the first volleyball rankings of 2022 are here with our WyoPreps Coaches and Media Poll.
Three defending champions and a perennial power top the four classifications. Kaycee, Big Horn, Lyman, and Kelly Walsh start the season at No. 1.
In Class 1A, ten teams received votes in the first poll. The Buckaroos were one of six that got a first-place vote. They earned the most with four and top the rankings. Saratoga sits second, while last year’s runner-up, Cokeville is in third. This division also features the only tie with Little Snake River and Southeast sharing fourth.
Twelve teams garnered votes in Class 2A. The Rams picked up half of the first-place ballots and sit at the top. They are only nine points ahead of county rival Tongue River. The Eagles earned two first-place votes and are in the second position. Sundance, Kemmerer (new to 2A), and Rocky Mountain round out the top five.
The Lyman Eagles begin the season at No. 1 in Class 3A with all but two first-place votes. They are off to a 6-0 start. Right behind in the second spot are their rivals, Mountain View. Douglas is in third. Both the Buffalos and Bearcats got one first-place vote. Pinedale and Powell are fourth and fifth, respectively. Six other teams earned at least one vote.
Runner-up the last two seasons, the Kelly Walsh Trojans are the choice for the top spot in the 4A division. They received eight of the 12 first-place votes. Thunder Basin is second, followed by two-time defending champion Laramie in third. Both the Bolts and Plainsmen picked up a couple of first-place votes. Natrona County is fourth and only three points behind Laramie. The Cody Fillies complete the top five in the first poll.
