The Lovell Bulldogs at one point this season was 2-2 but reeled off 7 straight wins to advance to Saturday's 2A championship in Laramie. Lovell had the #1 ranked defense in 2A against the run and the #3 defense overall. The Bulldogs put that on display as they held Torrington in check in their semi-final game on Friday night.

The Bulldogs opened the scoring with a 2 yard run for a touchdown from Dallen Mangus to give Lovell a 7-0 lead. Lovell had a productive 2nd quarter with Amos Monterde getting into the end zone from 7 yards out to make it 14-0 and that was followed by a 6 yard run for a score from Preston Nichols.

After a scoreless 3rd quarter, Lovell started to put the game away with a 3 yard TD run from Nichols to increase the lead to 28. Torrington got on the board with a Keiser Wolfe touchdown grab that cut the lead to 28-7 but Lovell responded with another touchdown from Nichols and the 35-7 was your final.

Lovell's running game for the best of the Torrington defense as Monterde had 159 yards on the ground and Nichols had 71. Torrington quarterback Beau Bivens was 17-39 for 197 yards and a touchdown pass. The season comes to an end for the Blazers at 8-4.

Lovell will play Lyman for the 2A championship on Saturday at 10 am at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie. During the regular season, Lyman beat Lovell 34-15. We have some great photos of that game on Friday in our gallery, courtesy of Dawn Bivens. So check those out!
