Student by day...basketball player at night...and rock star at heart. Talk about living a triple life...and she's pulling it off!

#3 Lusk at #2 Guernsey-Sunrise in a 2A vs. 1A matchup...first quarter...Lusk wearing the red...no good on the 3, but Derick VendeBossche will try from closer range...and he just barely put enough on that shot to get the drop...that got his team on the board first leading 2-to-nothing.

Guernsey-Sunrise would counter and match what the opposition did...Treasure Hollister with a drive, pull up and cans a short range jumper of his own...and this game was tied early at 2 points each.

The Tigers would up the stakes a bit...the defense would back off from Hunter Dockery and that was a mistake, because he was wide open for 3 and made them pay...that would make this a 5-to-2 game, and we're off to a good start.

...but what they did...the Vikings could do too...Brady Esquibel...he's just getting started and his aim is dead on...things are evened up again, this time at 5 points all.

The home team would be the one to make the first move in this game...they would go to the big guy...Nick Cunningham...a 6-4 junior...in 1A...that's big...hoop and the hack...which would push the score up to 10-to-7.

Guernsey's ship was sailing straight...and Hollister is a treasure hunter...x marks the spot for 3...he led all scores with 19, and now it's a 13-to-7 game.

The visitors needed to get their defense in gear...and when they did...it led to scoring opportunities...Matthew VandeBossche with the steal...he'll bring it back...hit the brakes to avoid the charge and he made that look pretty...his team trails 13-to-9.

What opposing teams need to look out for...is when both of the VandeBossche boys are on the same page...take this play for example...Matthew with the alley and Derick with the oop lay-in...and last year's 2A state runner-ups are only down 15-to-11.

You may be able to stop one...but the other usually has a back-up plan...this time Matthew connects with Logan Lamar and that resulted in another 2 points...now Lusk trails by 2...down 15-13.

The Vikings were not about ready to let the opposition claw their way back in, just yet...Hollister is sending that one to Valhalla...where every Viking wants to go...that would give them an 18-13 advantage, after the first 8 minutes.

2nd quarter...the home team was not messing around and they were raiding the net...Esquibel...right in front of the camera...give him 3...the junior poured in 13...the lead is at 10...it's 24-to-14 at this point.

The Tigers though were studying their prey...and they were waiting to pounce...watch the steal by Denton Shaw...cat like quickness and cat-like agility on the finish...that's worth 2 points, but his squad is still trailing 24-to-18.

This was a some-what low scoring quarter...but it had a few moments...Lamar comes out of nowhere for the rejection...he's a sophomore, so keep your eye on him down the road...but this highlight is not over...the visitors would eventually cash in on the turnover...Shaw will put up a 12 footer and get nothing but net, to add on to his 13 point total...the visitors are down 26-to-22.

Guernsey-Sunrise needed to shift the momentum into their favor...you could sense something was up...nice finish by Hollister....that was what his team needed...they were up 30-to-22, going into the locker room.

3rd quarter...Lusk would make their move on both sides of the ball...Dockery is in a bit of a jam, but somehow he got through it and put in 2 more of his 17...but his team is still down 30-to-24.

...and here they come again...Derick VandeBossche is a man on mission on this highlight...no stopping him as he'll add on to his 13 point total...they are within striking distance...down 35-33.

...and when I said strike...I meant just that...Shaw...eyes it...spies it...and buys it for 3...and now the Tigers have taken the lead in this game...up 36-to-35.

The Vikings needed to regroup and put something together...Hollister has something...it's called 3 more points...that was much needed and it gave his team the lead back...up 38-36.

The opposition tied things up again...so it had to be untied...Esquibel has something that can do that...the refs would raise their hands because they are sure...and the score moves up to 41-38.

They needed to open up some space on the scoreboard, but they needed someone else to provide some points...how about Meredith Hollister...that bucket made this a 5-point game...it's 43-to-38 in favor of the home team.

Back came the visitors...and they caught a break...Dockery will score on this play...there was a whistle, and the foul was on the defense, after the shot...so 2 points and they get the ball again...down 45-42.

...Lusk took advantage of the extra possession...Derick VandeBossche scores on the inbounds...and we have a 1 point contest...it's 45-to-44, going into the final 8 minutes.

4th quarter...back and forth things went...and it made for a good finish...Meredith Hollister will drive the baseline...and score 2 more...to put Guernsey-Sunrise ahead 47-to-44.

The Vikings tried to pick up the pace as well...Esquibel is on a fast break to the far hoop...great reverse lay-in finish...that's how you adjust to the situation...it's now a 51-to-48 game.

...but the Tigers' defense got them back into this one...first Dockery gets the steal...and then his team-mates decide he should be the one to do the scoring honors...his foot was on the line though, so that was only worth 2...the scoreboard reads 51-to-50, so they're down by 1.

The home team was trying to put the dagger in the heart...Treasure Hollister still has some gold in his treasure chest...and in truth he has 3 pieces! That was big...his is leading 54-to-50, but it's not over.

The visitors were not out of this one...not by a long shot...but they needed a long shot...Jordan Jackson will answer the call...hello operator...things are getting good...it's 54-to-53.

Ok...I know there's school tomorrow...but this is a good time to put the homework down, just for a few seconds.

11 seconds to go...Lusk found a way to get to the free throw line...Dockery hits both to put his team up 1...and we're just going to let the rest of this play out.

(PAUSE)

Too little on the first try...and too much on the putback...tough break! The Tigers would escape a nail-biter, and get out of Guernsey, with a 55-54 win.
