Maggie Smith of Rock Springs started wrestling at a very young age. All those years of wrestling with the Top of the Rock club paid dividends as she won the 190-pound state championship at the inaugural Girls State Wrestling Tournament on Friday.

Smith received a first-round bye in the state tournament and then proceeded to pin her next 3 opponents including Gracin Goff of Cheyenne East in the title match. This season, Smith wrestled in 28 matches and won them all. She has signed a college letter of intent to wrestle at Colorado Mesa in Grand Junction.

Smith makes it look easy when these endeavors are actually quite difficult and she is living proof that hard work pays off.

We had a chance to chat with Smith after her championship match and she was enjoying the moment.
