The Mountain View boys basketball team had some serious talent this season and made it all the way to the 3A state championship game. The season wasn't a breeze by any stretch but the Buffaloes had a stable of big-time talent.

That being said, Mountain View entered the state tournament as the #4 seed from the West and right off the bat, knocked off the #1 seed from the East, Rawlins 64-62. It was quite a ballgame and the Buffs received a superlative game from Luke Branson who poured in 30 points on 14-22 from the field. Hunter Meeks was the other Mountain View player in double-figures with 10 as the team as a whole shot an astounding 55% from the field.

In the 3A semi-finals, Mountain View entertained Buffalo and this was a challenging game for the Buffaloes. They trailed by 10 in the first quarter 12-2 but found some life in the 2nd quarter and then put the game away in the 4th quarter. Branson was a stud again with 15 points, Caden Sweep had 13 and Hunter Meeks contributed 11.

Mountain View ran into Worland in the 3A final with the Buffaloes dropping a 55-49. There were a dozen lead changes in the game and Luke Branson was a monster yet again with 25 points on 10-17 from the floor. The Buffaloes did have 21 turnovers while Worland had just 7. This team went 16-8 which is very respectable with Branson and Meeks earning all-state status with Sweep getting all-conference designation. But those three guys were seniors this year so it's going to be a new world for this program in 2021-22. Here's a short video of the Buffaloes in the state tournament. Enjoy!
