Back from an ankle injury, Kaylee Johnson led the Fillies with 18 points, as they would get back to their winning ways, by topping the defending champion Lady Camels in the process.

They say the path to success is like climbing a ladder...and if the ladder is sideways...then you have monkey bars...and that's a lot more fun!

#2 Gillette at #1 Natrona...first quarter...Gillette wearing the purple...Taylor Deaton saw that pass coming and she is off to the races in the other direction...she'll score a lay-in for the first points of the game...thus the score is 2-to-nothing.

The Lady Camels knew what they were up against, and had to make an early move, if they wanted to stay ahead of the oncoming onslaught from the opposition...Haley Urbatsch will get several bounces and the drop, to give the defending state champs a 4-zip advantage.

Like I said...Natrona was going to make a move soon...and here it comes...first they will work the ball inside to Gabby Johnson who will score quickly...and that was the start...her team trails 4-to-2.

Then the defense would return the favor from earlier...Jena Milliken with her own interception...the path to the hoop was not as clear as earlier, but she made it and got the bucket...which would tie this game up at 4-all.

Meanwhile, the visitors were hanging tough in the early goings...Shelby Johnson is only one of 2 seniors on this team...and she was trying to do her part...things are even again at 6 points a-piece.

The question coming into this game for the Fillies...was their Stanford-bound superstar...Kaylee Johnson had been recovering from an ankle injury...things appear to be ok so far...she would clean up her own mess and score...to deadlock things at 8.

Later...the home team was executing their game plan...fast passing and fast scoring...Gabby Johnson with an example...she contributed with 11, as her team would take a 12-to-9 lead after the first 8 minutes.

2nd quarter...from this point on...the highlights were few and far in between, because this game was not all that great...there were a few moments here and there...and that...was not one of them...courtesy of Shelby Johnson.

Moving right along...N-C was getting comfortable inside of the orange dungeon...and Kaylee Johnson is comfortable when she can get offensive rebounds...and second chances...she led all scorers with 18 points, to open up a 16-to-9 lead.

As far as the injury goes...what injury? She's just getting back to work...and the Fillies were pulling away so far...ahead 22-to-9.

Natrona has 3 girls on their team at 6 feet or taller...we've shown 2...and here's the 3rd...Emily Robertson...11 points...and those 2 were part of a 16-to-1 run, to make the score 26-to-9 at one point in this game.

Gillette needed some points real soon, or else this one was going to end quickly...Elyssa Howard answers the call with a 3-ball...that was a little better, but they were on the wrong end of a 29-to-12 score, going into the locker room.

3rd quarter...unfortunately this game did not get any better...and the lack of highlights is the reason why. Now Lauren Taubert and her team might disagree, because there's a highlight worthy play...2 points and the lead is up to 20...it's now 32-to-12.

The Fillies were sending a message to the rest of the state...and it's been received by many already...that play was too easy for Kaylee Johnson...the scoreboard reads 35-to-12.

I'd like to show a highlight for the Lady Camels...however...they did not score one field goal the entire quarter. In fact their only 2 points, came from the charity stripe...Milliken finishes the fast break for N-C...as they were ahead 39-to-14, going into the final 8 minutes.

4th quarter...the visitors were in desperate need of points...they've gone 10 minutes plus without a field goal...Heaven Lint had to go steal one in order to break the drought...but her team still trails, 39-to-17.

We'll give Gillette a little more love...even though the score is against them big-time...Julia Seamans is the other senior...props to her for going up and over Kaylee Johnson and winning that exchange...that makes the score 41-to-19.

...but Kaylee was not too concerned...she had the better moves...and she will demonstrate them  on this play...2 more points and the foul...everything is ok with N-C...they are now ahead, 43-to-19.

Ok...one more and we're going to wrap this up...this game was over a long time ago...the last highlight goes to Sarah Jones...after going 0-3 at the Energy Classic Tournament during the week before this game...Natrona has righted the ship...as they would win going away...56-to-30.
