A new top-ranked team highlights the new WyoPreps Coaches and Media Girls Basketball Poll.

Class 3A features the change at the top. Plus, four new teams enter the rankings.

Newcastle takes over the top spot in 3A after their win at previous No. 1 Douglas last week. The Dogies received 16 first-place votes and jump up two spots top 3A. The Bearcats fell to second, and Lyman dropped to third. Both earned first-place votes. Douglas got four, and the Eagles picked up two first-place votes. Pinedale held steady at No. 4. Mountain View’s win last Friday at Lyman lifted the Buffalos back into the top five at No. 5. Buffalo fell out of the poll.

The top three stayed the same in Class 4A. Cheyenne East received 17 of the 18 first-place votes. The Thunderbirds have held the top position all season. Cody earned a first-place vote, and the Fillies remain second. Thunder Basin stayed third. Two new teams enter the rankings. Laramie and Green River are in the top five for the first time this season. They sit fourth and fifth, respectively. Natrona County and Campbell County dropped out of the poll.

2A was the only other class with a new team that made the top five. Wyoming Indian held onto first by three points over Moorcroft. The Chiefs earned seven of the 12 first-place votes. The Wolves got the other five first-place votes. Rocky Mountain and Glenrock stay third and fourth. Sundance moved back into the poll in fifth. Tongue River fell out of the rankings.

The 1A poll has Upton at the top for the sixth straight week. The Bobcats received nine of the 13 first-place votes. Burlington and Southeast traded spots. The Huskies moved to second by six points in the voting. Cokeville stayed in fourth, and Little Snake River is still fifth.
