Newcastle senior Tiernan Stanton will further her volleyball and track career after signing at Nebraska Wesleyan University.

Stanton was an all-state selection on the volleyball court last fall and was a two-time all-conference pick in the 3A East.

The 6-2 senior middle hitter finished fourth in the state in hitting and total blocks in the 2022 season. Stanton hit .320 in her final prep season and had 158 total blocks, with 85 solo blocks. She was 12th in kills with 346. Stanton’s hitting percentage led Class 3A, while her blocks ranked her fourth, and her kills were fifth in the division. She led the 3A Northeast Conference in all three categories.

Stanton helped Newcastle to an overall record of 21-15 and an appearance in the 3A state tournament.

She holds the school records for blocks, kills, and hitting percentage at NHS. The senior has been chosen to play in Australia for the Down Under Volleyball Games this summer.
