It was the semi-final round at the State Volleyball Tournament in Casper and 4A featured a pair of epic matches on Friday at the Ford Center in Casper. Thunder Basin knocked off defending champion Kelly Walsh in 5 sets, 25-18, 29-27, 20-25, 14-25 and 15-13. Laramie downed Cody in 5 thrilling sets, 22-25 25-22, 20-25 25-16, and 15-12. Thunder Basin will be looking for their first state title and dealt Laramie their only loss of the season in the 4A East Regional final. Laramie won state titles in 2020 and 2021;   plus the Plainsmen have been the team to beat in this classification.

The 3A semi-finals were one-sided as defending champion Mountain View defeated Buffalo 3 sets to none and Powell beat Douglas 3 sets to one. Powell last won a state title in 2014 while Mountain View is looking for their 3rd championship in the last four years.

In 2A, defending champion Burns needed 4 sets to dispose of Southeast Wyoming rival Pine Bluffs while Big Horn swept their Northern Wyoming rival Tongue River in straight sets. These two teams met in the 2A championship match last season and these two squads have won the last two state titles in 2A.

Finally, in 1A, Cokeville downed Southeast 3 sets to one and Little Snake River swept Upton in straight sets. Cokeville will be looking for their 5th state championship in this classification in the last 7 years while LSR last won a state title in 2016. All four championship matches will be at 4:30 on Saturday at the Ford Center.
