PhotoFest! Wheatland Track Meet 4-1-22
The Wheatland Invite was held on Friday with some brisk weather conditions to start but better conditions as the day went on. On the girl's side, Taliah Morris of Cheyenne East won two events, the 100-meter dash in 12.46 and the long jump at 18 feet 9 and a half inches. She is the reigning 4A State Champion in the long jump and the 200. Whitney Bennett of Saratoga was a two-event winner as well taking the 300 hurdles with a time of 47.96 and winning the triple jump at 33-10.5. She is the defending 1A State Champion in the 300 hurdles. Ryann Smith of Rawlins won the 800 in 2.23.19 and the 3200 with a clocking of 11.44.24
In the rest of the girl's events, the 200 meter-dash winner was Addison Forry of Laramie in 27.08 with Marissa Moorehouse of Torrington in 1.02.78. Rylee Ward of Burns captured the 100-meter hurdles in 17.35. The 1600 meter run winner was Wheatland's Lily Nicols in 5.37.37. In the relays, Laramie placed first in the 1600 medley and the 4x400, Cheyenne East won the 4x100 and Thermopolis won the 4x800. Over in the field events, Emma Norris of Burns won the high jump clearing 4-11 with Mattilyn Jones going 9-7 to win the pole vault. In the throwing events, the shot put winner was Alex Lewis of Laramie with a toss of 34-6 with Reece Halley of Torrington throwing 121-9 to win the discus.
In the girl's team standings, Laramie was first with 122.5 points, Torrington 2nd with 92, and East 3rd with 86.08
On the boy's side in the Wheatland meet, Jase Smith of Rawlins swept the hurdle events with a time of 17.01 n the 110 and 43.79 in the 300. Rodee Brow of Wheatland continues his outstanding season with a win in the 400 at 52.06 and a victory in the pole vault as he cleared 14-6. In the rest of the boys running events, the 100-meter dash winner was Marik Cummings of Cheyenne Eastin 10.87 with Brendan Flock of Torrington taking the 200 in 22.6. In the 800, Laramie's Meyer Smith ran 2.01.54 for the win, Torrington's Aydan Loya was first in 4.43.74 and Dominic Eberle of Laramie took the 3200 in 10.32.27. Cheyenne South won the 4x100 relay, Thermopolis wins the 4x400, Cheyenne East the 1600 medley, and Burns the 4x800.
In the field events for the boys, John Rose of Laramie cleared 6-2 to win the high jump. Jade Guevara from East went 20-2-.5 to win the long jump and the triple jump winner was Mahlon Morris of Laramie with a leap of 39-7.50. Torrington's Tyler Bennick won the discus at 135-6 with Dylan Molzahn of Lusk taking the shot at 47-5.
Team-wise, Laramie was 1st with 158.5 points, Torrington 2nd with 104.5, and Cheyenne East 3rd with 69. We have a video of some of the meet's highlights and a slew of photos in our gallery. Enjoy!
