Pine Bluffs has been one of the most dominant programs in 2A in recent years with just one losing season in the last 14 years. In 2019-20, the Hornets finished 21-6 and made it to the 2A state championship game. In the quarterfinal round of the state tournament, Pine Bluffs defeated Kemmerer 57-30 as Savannah Norman has 13 points and Maddie Fornstrom contributed 11.

In the 2A semi-finals, the Hornets prevailed overwhelmed Lusk 63-27 with Jaden Shelit coming up with a monster game of 24 points on 10-16 from the field. Hyleigh Fornstrom had a strong game too with 16 of 7-10 from the floor.  In the 2A final, Pine Bluffs fell short to Wyoming Indian 52-46 in a very entertaining game. Shelit had 20 points and Dylan Sweeter added 8.

This team was loaded with talent with three Hornet players receiving all-state distinction. Shelit averaged 12 points a game, Hyleigh Fornstrom averaged 7 per contest and Maddie Fornstrom threw in 5 per game. Dylan Sweeter was named all-conference averaging 7 points and 5 rebounds per game and Sophie Howard was an all-conference pick averaging 5 points and 7 rebounds per game.
