Both teams were shaking off the winter cobwebs, and it looks like Laramie did a better job.

I have absolutely no idea what that is...but it is someone's good luck charm. I'll say this...a few strange things happened in this game.

The Laramie Rangers vs. the Jackson Giants...this game being played in Casper...top of the first...Jackson pitching...Cole Critchfield actually went the distance...got around 7 strike-outs, which is pretty good, this early in the season.

Bottom of the first...runner on...Laramie on defense...nice snag by Joseph Legerski at third for one out, and then the runner at first is going to get doubled up, as Noah Hammontree will step on the bag and that will take care of that problem...now his team can swing the bats again.

Top of the second...this time Hammontree is batting...he'll get a single up the middle for a base hit and it will bring in Nate Hill from third...as the Rangers would get on the board first and lead 1-to-nothing.

Later...Hammontree is on third...and he's got an opportunity to go home on a passed ball...this is going to be a close play at the plate...and he's out...now of course instant replay can not be used at the game...but let's slow it down and take another look at it. It's a 50-50 call here on this one...but in the end, the play did not come back to haunt, so we are not going to raise a fuss over it.

Still in the top of the 2nd...Abel Casas batting for Laramie...and he'll contribute with a base hit to left field...he'll earn an R-B-I as Legerski will head home...and the score would eventually go up to 3-to-nothing.

Bottom of the 2nd...runner at first and did the Rangers pick him off or not? The umpire says yes and he's gone to end the inning...how about we slow it down again? Two things here...it looks like the runner got to the bag first, but it also looked like for a brief moment...that his foot might have come off the bag...and that tiny opportunity was all Hammontree needed, to put the tag down...maybe.

Bottom of the 3rd...the Giants trail 3-to-1...with a runner on third...Tristan Shockley smacks a fly ball to center...great dive and catch by Drew Burman in center field...it got the out...but it was also a sacrifice fly, so Tory Evans will come in, and now his team trails, 3-to-2.

Top of the 4th...Laramie looking to build on their lead...Evans lost the ball for moment...but he would hustle and get it to Critchfield in time to put the tag down and get the runner at the plate...and that saved a run. No slow-mo needed on that one...they got him.

Bottom of the 5th...Jackson playing catch-up and this play was a bit on the strange side...Evans is at second...and he's going to caught in a run-down...but the Rangers botch it...and it's an error...Evans is trying to cash in on the mis-cue...we got another close one at the plate...and he's out. Alex Jordan with a great catch and turn-around to apply the tag...ok...one last time...from our view...we can not see the tag...the umpire had the better angle...we're not arguing...just showing the play...and maybe the call was correct. Regardless...it stands. Runner's out.

Top of the 6th...Hammontree batting again for the Rangers...and he had a decent game at the plate...he's out on the fielder's choice at first, but Hill will make a bee-line home and score...they would also get a couple of runs in the 7th to go up by a score of 7-to-2.

Bottom of the 7th...last chance for the Giants...Burman pitching in relief and he's going to close the deal. No come-back was going to happen here. Laramie would cap off a 3-and-1 weekend...winning this contest...7-to-2.
