A home playoff game is at stake, as a pair of East Conference teams from Class 1A 6-man square off in our fan-voted Wyopreps.com high school football ‘Game of the Week.’

It’s No. 3 Hulett (6-1) hosting No. 5 Lingle-Fort Laramie (4-3).

Both teams are coming in on winning streaks. The Red Devils have four in a row, while the Doggers have won three straight.

Both head coaches, Hulett’s Derrick ‘Boz’ Backen and Lingle-Fort Laramie’s Matt Cornelius, spoke with WyoPreps’ David Settle by phone this week. They discussed what’s going on with their respective teams, how their teams have gotten to where they are, the home playoff game that goes to the winner, and what to expect in this matchup in the video above.

Saturday’s game is the fourth meeting between the two teams in the 6-man division. According to wyoming-football.com, Hulett has won two of the last three meetings. The Red Devils won last in Lingle, 61-26.

Who to Watch for Hulett: Jhett Letellier and Dawson Butler. These two lead the way for the Red Devils on both sides of the ball.

Who to Watch for Lingle-Ft. Laramie: Cooper Hill, Alex Pugsley, and Slade Hopkins lead a balanced attack on the ground. Hill anchors the defense at 17.5 points per game and even has two defensive TDs.

Key Segments of the Game:

Hulett – Outside of their lone loss and one shootout win, the Red Devils defense has allowed only 14.75 points per game in their four other wins on the field. They must slow down a balanced Dogger attack.

Lingle-Ft. Laramie – The Doggers defense is just as stingy. They had to rally past Kaycee, but have given up just 21 points per game in their other three victories.

Both teams do have forfeit wins over Midwest during this 2019 season.

The game starts at 2 p.m. on Saturday from Red Devil Stadium in Hulett.
