Riverside Rebels Basketball Previews 2022 [VIDEOS]
Both Riverside High School basketball teams are looking to make strides forward as they prepare to start a new high school basketball season.
The third stop on the WyoPreps preseason basketball tour took us to Basin for our David Settle to visit with players and coaches in both Riverside programs.
The Rebels girls’ team went 7-9 last season and tied for third with a 1-5 conference quadrant record. They did not qualify for the 2A state basketball tournament. There are changes with the roster, plus a change at head coach, as Jason Mitchell steps in to take the reins.
Seniors Braelyn Kozisek and Dailyn Zierolf, and junior Caroline Schlattman, plus new coach Mitchell took some time to talk with WyoPreps about preseason preparation, adjusting to a new coach and new philosophy, and much more.
The Riverside boys went 3-16 last season and were winless in six tries in their conference quadrant games. They are looking to another year of growth within coach William Walker’s system.
WyoPreps spoke with junior Dylan Alexander and seniors Garrett Ellis-Rudd and Ryan Hoyt, plus coach Walker about the upcoming season. The boys discussed higher numbers in the program, what the emphasis in practice has been, and more. Coach Walker feels with the experience they have back, expectations are higher. The team has goals of getting more shots than their opponent and rebounding well.
Riverside opens the 2021-22 season at the Bobcat Invitational in Upton. The Rebels will play Upton, Sundance, and Hulett in their three games over two days on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 10 and 11, 2021.
