The Michelle Ludwig cross county meet was held in Sheridan on Saturday with those state championship meets right around the corner.

For the ladies in this event, Abby Cutler from Hill City, South Dakota finished 1st with a time of 19.31.73.  Sheridan’s Ella Kessner took the silver in 19.49.4 with Haillie Wilhelm from Natrona taking the bronze in 19.52.91. Natrona put 3 runners in the top 11 with Madyson Willis taking 5th place and Deliah Baedke getting 11th, Baedke took 5th at last year’s state championship. Finishing 4th in the girl's race in Sheridan was Hailey Jones of Moorcroft who is the defending 2A state champion in the 800 and 1600 meter runs in track and field.

In the ladies team standing, Natrona has enjoyed a solid season with and won this meet with 48 points, Sheridan was right behind in 2nd place with 52 points and Buffalo was 3rd with 76. Cody placed 4th and Hill City 5th

For the guys, Mason Henry of Natrona ran 16.45.32 to take the tape with Dylan Wichman of Billings Central 2nd in 17 flat.72  Austin Akers of Sheridan was 3rdd in 17.04.99 while Cameryn Spence of Douglas placed 4th in 17.05.37. Cody’s Owen Preston was 5th. In the boy's team standings, Sheridan was first by a wide margin with 33 points, Natrona 2nd with 74, followed by Cody, Tongue River, and Gillette. The state cross country championships will be in Afton will be October 26th.
