The Sheridan Broncs who finished 2nd in 4A a year ago had a spirited season opener against Rock Springs on Friday night which was game one for new Rock Springs head coach Mark Lenhardt.

 

Just 3 points were on the board in the first quarter as Sheridan's Tony Jacobs connected on a 25-yard field goal to make it 3-0. The Broncs started to assert themselves in the 2nd quarter as Jacobs caught a 28 yard TD pass from Jacob Boint to increase the lead to 10.

 

Sheridan received another big offensive play from Garrett Coon who zoomed 39 yards to the end zone to out the Broncs out in front 17-0 in the first half of play. Coon, by the way, had 159 yards rushing

 

Rock Springs finally got on the board in the 3rd quarter as Seth Hyman hooked up with Favor Okere for the 15 yards and the touchdown so it was 17-7.  Sheridan kept the Rock Springs offense out of the end zone the rest of the way and got a pick-six in the process from Garrett Coon in the 4th quarter.

 

Sheridan goes on to beat Rock Springs in the season opener 23-7.  Sheridan goes on the road to Cheyenne Central this week. while Rock Springs will host Laramie
