In what was a memorable 1A 9-man football game, Shoshoni rallied to edge Big Piney on the road 28-24 to get to 5-1 on the year. Shoshoni's defense came up with 2 big interceptions and that's huge in a game that was decided by half a dozen plays or so.

The Wranglers drew first blood with a 21-yard touchdown pass from Alex Mills to Jaxon Stanley. The 2-point try was good so Shoshoni led by 8 and tacked in a 2nd quarter touchdown by Pehton Truempler to lead 15-0.

Big Piney came to life in the 3rd quarter on an 8-yard run to the end zone by Caden Clifford but the 2-point try failed so the Punchers trailed 15-6. Truempler gave Shoshoni a bit of breathing room in the 3rd with a 22-yard touchdown run to bump the lead 22-6. Still in the 3rd, Big Piney came up huge response as quarterback Champ Snively threw a 69-yard TD pass to Hunter Fisher. The Punchers went for 2 and failed again so they were down 22-12

Things got really interesting in the 4th quarter as Snively got into the end zone from the doorstep and the 2-point try was missed again so that made it 22-18 in favor of Shoshoni. With less than 6 minutes to go, Snively found Ruben Stoutenberg for a touchdown on a play that covered 49 yards and the Punchers took their first lead at 24-22.

Shoshoni saved the best for last with a go-ahead touchdown as Truempler got into the end zone from 23 yards out to make it 28-24 in the final minute and that's the way it stood. Shoshoni is 5-1 and will play 6-0 Wind River on Thursday night in Pavillion. Big Piney drops to 4-2 and is scheduled to play at Wyoming Indian on Friday.
