It’s time for the Class 4A Regional Soccer Championship tournaments in Afton and Cheyenne on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The top seed has a first-round bye and has automatically qualified for next week’s state tournament in Rock Springs. Those two are Kelly Walsh and Laramie for the girls, and Jackson and Cheyenne Central for the boys.

The other six teams play a first-round loser-out match on Thursday. Then, on Friday and Saturday, the remaining four teams will determine the four seeds for next week’s state tournament.

Thursday, May 9: (at Star Valley HS & Jackson Hole HS)

(1-seed) Kelly Walsh = Bye

Final Score: (4) Natrona County 5 (5) Rock Springs 0 - Tigers are eliminated; Fillies qualify for the state tournament.

Final Score: (3) Riverton 5 Star Valley (6) 0 - Braves are eliminated; Wolverines qualify for the state tournament. 

Final Score: (2) Jackson 8 (7) Evanston 0 - Red Devils are eliminated; Broncs qualify for the state tournament. 

Friday, May 10: (at SVHS)

Final Score: Kelly Walsh 1 Natrona County 0 [Trojans win SO, 5-3] - KW converted all 5 of their SO kicks and got a save on NC's 1st PK.

Final Score: Jackson 5 Riverton 1 - Broncs advance to the title match.

Saturday, May 11: (at SVHS)

Final Score: Riverton 3 Natrona County 2 - Wolverines get the 3 seed and the Fillies will be the 4 at state.

Final Score: Jackson 4 Kelly Walsh 0 (Championship) - Broncs secure the regional title with a shutout and grab the top seed. The Trojans are the 2nd seed.

4A WEST REGIONAL BOYS (in Afton/Jackson)

Jackson earned the No. 1 seed over Kelly Walsh on goals allowed during 4A West Conference matches (4 vs. 6).

Final Score: Jackson 8 Natrona County 0 - Broncs reach the regional title match.

Final Score: Kelly Walsh 3 Rock Springs 0 - Trojans scored all 3 in the 1st half.

Saturday, May 11: (at SVHS)

Final Score: Rock Springs 3 Natrona County 0 - Tigers get the 3 seed and Mustangs will be the 4 at the state tournament.

Final Score: Jackson 3 Kelly Walsh 1 (Championship) - the Broncs are regional champs and take the No. 1 seed to state. The Trojans are the No. 2 seed.

4A EAST REGIONAL GIRLS (in Cheyenne)

Laramie earned the No. 1 seed over Campbell County on their record against a common opponent, Thunder Basin. Laramie was 2-0 vs. TBHS. Campbell County went 1-0-1 vs. TBHS. Thunder Basin earned the No. 3 seed with a head-to-head record of 1-0-1 vs. Sheridan.

Final Score: (5) Cheyenne East 2 (4) Sheridan 1 - Broncs are eliminated; Thunderbirds qualify for the state tournament.

Final Score: (2) Campbell County 4 (7) Cheyenne Central 3 - Indians are eliminated; Camels qualify for the state tournament.

Final Score: Laramie 4 Cheyenne East 1 - after a 2-0 lead was trimmed to 2-1 by East, Laramie scored 2 goals in about 90 seconds with just under 10 minutes left.

Final Score: Thunder Basin 1 Campbell County 0 [Bolts win SO 6-5]

Saturday, May 11: (at East HS)

Final Score: Campbell County 1 Cheyenne East 0 - Camels secure the 3 seed at state next weekend, the Thunderbirds will be the 4. 

Final Score: Laramie 2 Thunder Basin 0 (Championship) - Plainsmen win the regional title with a pair of 2nd-half goals and take the No. 1 seed to state. The Bolts will be the 2nd seed.

Final Score: (2) Sheridan 4 (7) Cheyenne South 2 - Bison are eliminated; Broncs qualify for the state tournament.

Final Score: Sheridan 6 Thunder Basin 0 - Broncs exploded in the 2nd half.

Saturday, May 11: (at East HS)

Final Score: Thunder Basin 5 Cheyenne East 0 - Bolts get the 3 seed and the Thunderbirds will be the 4.

Final Score: Cheyenne Central 2 Sheridan 1 (Championship) - Indians win the regional crown on a last-second shot by Cone-LeBeaumont on a rebound for an amazing finish. Central takes the top seed and the Broncs are second.
