Week 5 of the high school softball season in the Cowboy State is condensed with the holiday weekend approaching. There are some rescheduled games within the slate, but a lot of teams are trying to play before the weekend, and while the weather is better. All but one match-up is a conference twin-bill that counts within the pods. Jackson at Worland is the lone cross-pod doubleheader. The schedule is subject to change.

MONDAY, APRIL 14

Final Score: #4 Wheatland 13 #5 Cheyenne Central 8 (Conference game) - Trailing 5-1, the Bulldogs scored 8 runs in the 3rd & 4th innings to take the lead. They added 4 more in the last two frames. Meyer had 3 hits & 2 RBIs, Mickelsen contributed 2 hits & 3 RBIs, and Lockman added 2 hits & 2 RBIs. Birt had 2 hits & 3 RBIs for Central.

Final Score: #5 Cheyenne Central 7 #4 Wheatland 3 - a 6-run 3rd inning sent the Indians to the game two victory. Birt had 3 hits & 3 RBIs.

TUESDAY, APRIL 15

Final Score: Cody 5 Jackson 4 (Conference game) - the Fillies took a 4-0 lead in the 3rd. The Broncs matched it in the 5th. Cody took the lead on Reinker's RBI triple in the 6th. Jackson had 2 on with 2 out but couldn't quite get the tying run home. Lindahl had 2 hits & 2 RBIs for Cody.

Final Score: Kelly Walsh 15 Natrona County 5 (Conference game) - the Trojans scored 8 times in the first 2 innings and never trailed. Clarkson homered as part of 3 hits & 3 RBIs. Hoyt added 4 hits & drove in 2 runs for KW. Hodge had 3 hits & 3 RBIs for NC in the loss.

Final Score: Natrona County 6 Kelly Walsh 4 - 3 runs in the 4th and 5th innings were enough for NC to hold off the Trojans. Dickenson had 1 HR. Devoe added 2 RBIs.

Final Score: Rock Springs 10 Green River 0 (Conference game) - Wester tossed a 5-hit shutout in the circle with 4 Ks and 2 BBs. Florencio hit 2 HRs and drove in 5. Sweeney also homered for RS.

Final Score: Green River 12 Rock Springs 10 - trailing 5-0, GR scored 7 runs in the 2nd to take the lead. Two more runs in the 5th were the difference. Shiner had 4 hits and 3 RBIs.

Final Score: #1 Cheyenne East 13 Torrington 2 (Conference game) - T-Birds jumped out 7-0 and pulled away. Petruso had 2 hits & 3 RBIs, Artery & Stephenson added 2 hits & 2 RBIs each.

Final Score: #2 Thunder Basin 8 #3 Campbell County 6 (8 inns.) (Conference game) - the Bolts took a 4-0 lead early, but the Camels rallied to it at 5-5 with 3 runs in the 7th. TB wins it with 3 in the 8th on an RBI single, a Sac Fly, and an error. Terrell homered and had 2 hits with 5 RBIs.

Final Score: #3 Campbell County 14 #2 Thunder Basin 12 - a 10-run 3rd sent the Camels to the split. Kimbley had 2 hits & 3 RBIS, while Muffie added 2 hits & 2 RBIs.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 16

Final Score: Worland 3 Jackson 1 (Conference cross-pod game) - the Warriors won their 1st game thanks to a 1-run in the 3rd and 4th. Pierce allowed 1 run on 7 hits with 11 Ks and 1 walk. She had 3 hits at the plate.

Final Score: Worland 16 Jackson 1 - the Warriors scored 7 in the 2nd and 5 more runs in the 3rd to pull away. Donahue had 3 hits (HR) & 4 RBIs.

Final Score: #4 Cheyenne Central 23 #1 Cheyenne East 13 (Conference game is first) - The Indians jumped out to a 10-1 lead. East rallied within 2, but Central scored 8 in the bottom of the 6th to finish it off. Kammerman had 2 HRs and 5 RBIs and Birt added 3 hits, 2 were HRs, & 4 RBIs. Stephenson had 2 HRs & 4 RBIs for East in the loss.

Final Score: #1 Cheyenne East 15 #4 Cheyenne Central 5 - the T-Birds pulled away with 9 runs in the 5th. Stephenson had 2 HRs and 5 RBIs. Hollibaugh also homered for East.

Final Score: Laramie 17 Cheyenne South 1 (Conference game) - the Plainsmen scored 9 runs in the 1st inning and capped it with 6 more in the 5th. Cass had 3 hits, including a 2-run HR and 2 RBIs. Milam added a 3-run HR.
