Torrington’s Alyssa Albaugh Commits to Western Nebraska CC for Softball
Torrington senior Alyssa Albaugh will further her softball career after signing on a full-ride scholarship to Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff, NE. Albaugh plays prep softball at Cheyenne South High School and club softball for the Cheyenne Xtreme program.
Albaugh was an all-conference selection by the coaches for the South Bison in the 2023 high school season. She was second-team all-conference in 2022.
Entering Week 6 of the 2024 season, Alyssa had a batting average of .440 to lead the Southside. She had 11 hits, which included one home run, five RBIs, and five runs scored. Albaugh also had an on-base percentage of .481 and 11 stolen bases. Her primary position is shortstop, but she has also appeared in two games as a pitcher.
Albaugh also played volleyball and basketball at Torrington High School. She was a three-year varsity letter winner and two-year starter on the volleyball court for the Blazers. Albaugh had 217 kills in her senior season last fall. Alyssa played varsity basketball during her sophomore season in 2021-22 at THS.
The WNCC Cougars compete in Region IX at the NJCAA level of college athletics. They are one of seven teams with softball in Region IX.
Torrington High School is competing for the first at the JV level of high school softball in Wyoming this year. They will move to the varsity level in 2025.
