There were three defending champions on the mats for the 120 pound State Championship matches on Saturday in Casper and all three prevailed. In 4A, Broc Fletcher of Rock Springs needed overtime to edge Kolten Powers of Sheridan 9-7. Fletcher was the 4A state champ in 2021 at 106. Fletcher was 41-14 this season and Powers wrapped things up at 42-7. The 3rd place finisher in 4A in this weight class was Kael Johnson of Natrona with Lance Streifel of Thunder Basin 4th.

Over in 3A, Green River's Kale Knezovich was the 106-pound champion a year ago and made it 2 in a row with a 12-3 win over Peyton Andrews of Star Valley at 120. The Wolves sophomore had a solid season record-wise at 31-8 while Andrews finished at 27-16. in 3rd place at 120 in 3A was Garrett Haley of Pinedale with Rawlins freshman Brayden Torstenbo taking 4th.

In 2A, Kemmerer won the team championship and the Rangers got contributions up and down the line-up. Karl Haslem went 36-8 this season as a junior and beat Grant Logsdon from Lingle/Southeast by a fall. Haslem was the 2A champ at 106 last year and Logsdon was 3rd at 106 a year ago. The bronze medalist at 120 in 2A was Aiden Ruby from Wind River with Gabe Matthews of Lusk 4th.
