Wyoming High School Boys Swimming Scoreboard: Dec. 13-14, 2024
The new boys’ swimming & diving season opens this weekend in Wyoming for all 25 teams around the state. It all begins on Friday and Saturday, which seems so long until the state championships in Gillette on Feb. 20-22, 2025, but that will be here before we know it. Laramie has the biggest meets this weekend with all but three 4A teams attending their two competitions over the first two days. Rawlins has seven teams coming for its pentathlon on Saturday, while Cody hosts five.
Here is the schedule for Week 1 of the prep boys’ swimming and diving season in the Cowboy State. The schedule is subject to change.

WyoPreps 2025 Season Outlook
Lander and Laramie are the defending champions from last season.
Class 3A
The Tigers look to make it 29 in a row in Class 3A. Led by senior Finn Richards, one of three swimmers named the 3A Athlete of the Meet at the state championships last February, Lander will be in the favorite position again. Richards won the 50 free and 100 backstroke races at the state swim meet last season. Still, head coach Shawna Morgan could put him in any individual event and Finn would find success. Colby Blackburn, Sequeil Lozier, Shane Cunningham, Jacksen Washburn, Carson Deeds, and Carter Plaisted will be counted on to help Richards lead Lander this season.
The Buffalo Bison return a good core led by senior Tommy Wonka. He is the defending 3A champion in the 100 breaststroke and was one of the three swimmers named 3A Athlete of the Meet. Gio Monterastelli, Asher Murray, and Everett Thomas will help the Bison contend for the podium.
Other top returners in 3A include Malachi Villareal of Kemmer, the third swimmer who shared 3A Athlete of the Meet last February, Cody’s Bradley McKenzie, Riverton’s Alex Jordan, and Lyman’s Evan Bentley.
Cody’s Bryson Laing and Lander’s Gage Hampton lead the charge in 3A diving this season.
Class 4A
The Plainsmen seek an eighth title in a row in Class 4A. Laramie lost some key swimmers but returns Aiden Stakes, Kelan Stakes, Kody Mathill, and Brock Rasmussen to lead this year’s charge in the pool. Max Griffiths and Spencer Hyde help the Plainsmen in diving.
Cheyenne Central and Campbell County will also be in the mix for the top spot.
The Indians are led by state champion diver Brady Benne, who dominated last season as a freshman. Now a sophomore, Benne looks to take diving to the next level. Central’s young core in the pool is led by Chris Hager, Ian Young, Evan Bott, and Ian Whitesell.
The Camels also had a young team last year and return state champion Cy Gallion, Brady Hunt, CJ Gaskins, and Garrett Shinkle.
Kelly Walsh had a junior core led by Ayden Hines. Sheridan returns a top swimmer in Ben Forsythe, the defending champ in the 50 free and 100 breaststroke races.
4A could be a nail-biter.
