The new WyoPreps Coaches and Media Boys Basketball Poll to start the New Year has been released.

Just like the lady’s rankings, there is not a lot of change. Only three moves within the top five of the four classes and no new teams.

Cheyenne Central, Worland, Rocky Mountain, and Saratoga all hold the top positions for the fourth straight set of rankings.

Class 4A sees the Indians one vote away from being a unanimous pick for No. 1. Cheyenne Central received 14 of the 15 votes for the top spot. Sheridan snagged that other vote for No. 1, and the Broncs stay a solid second. Cheyenne East and Thunder Basin trade spots. The Thunderbirds move to third, while the Bolts fall a spot to fourth. Only six points separate the two teams on the ballot. Campbell County holds in fifth.

The Worland Warriors earned seven of the 10 first-place votes and stay at the top of Class 3A. Lander remains in second, and the Tigers earned the other three votes for the top position. Powell holds in third. The one change is Rawlins moves to fourth, and Douglas drops to fifth.

Rocky Mountain received all but three first-place votes, as the Grizzlies remain No. 1 in Class 2A. Big Piney holds in second, but the Punchers are now tied with Sundance Bulldogs for No. 2. That pushed Tongue River down to fourth, though the Eagles are just six points behind in the balloting. Pine Bluffs holds steady in fifth.

The only class that is the same as the previous poll happens to be Class 1A. The defending champion Saratoga Panthers hold the top spot with seven of the 10 top ballots. Farson-Eden received the other three, and the Pronghorns hold in second. Encampment edged a little closer to Farson-Eden, as the Tigers are just nine points back in the voting, but they remain at No. 3. Upton and Southeast hold their spots to round out the top five.
