Thunder Basin and Cheyenne Central were battling for a playoff spot in 4A football and in a very competitive game, Thunder Basin came out on top 22-20 on Friday night to leave both teams 1-4 on the year.

Thunder Basin led 3-0 after one-quarter of play thanks to a field goal but Cheyenne Central responded with a 33-yard touchdown connection from quarterback Lane Clement to Tate Berry that covered 16 yards to make it 7-3 in favor of the Tribe.

The Bolts came right back with a Hadley Hudson TD pass to Parker Wagner so it was 10-7 TB at the intermission. Hudson added a pair of rushing touchdowns in the 3rd quarter from 7 and 20 yards out so lead grew to 22-7.

Central had no problem moving the ball in the game it was just a matter of getting into the end zone. In the 4th quarter, the Indians did find the end zone twice thanks to a couple of touchdown runs from Tyrone Richards from 3 and 2 yards out to make it a 2-point game at 22-20.

That would be as close as Central would get as the squad has lost 2 games by 2 points this season and 2 games by 7 points. Thunder Basin absorbed some difficult losses this season but they got out of the 4A basement.

The Bolts will travel to Rock Springs this week and Central will host #1 Sheridan on Friday. We have a super-sized collection of photos from the TB-CC contest in our gallery below, courtesy of Brian Mitchell and Leah Powell. Enjoy!
