The Tongue River Eagles scratched and clawed their way into the 2A State Tournament in 2020 and earned a #3 seed from the west. In their quarterfinal round game with Southeast, the Eagles fell behind by 17 and staged a furious rally only to fall short 50-47. Tongue River shot just 29% from the field and was led in scoring by Braden McCafferty with 13 and Nick Summers chipped in 10. Remarkably, the Eagles turned the ball over just 5 times in that contest.

In a loser-out game, Tongue River met Rocky Mountain and lost 64-51. The Eagles shot the ball much better but Rocky was phenomenal from the field, going 25-35. Tongue River got 15 from Summers and 10 from McCafferty.

The Eagles finished the season 14-13 and Summers was named all-state as he averaged 14 points per game. Cade Reish was named all-conference and both of those guys along with McCafferty were seniors. So the team will have a much different complexion in 2020-21.
